What makes The Bath Shoppe different?
We make clean, handcrafted skincare in small batches in Flower Mound, Texas built around one simple idea: skincare doesn't need to be scented or complicated to be effective. Every product is fragrance-free, made from natural and organic ingredients, and free of the additives most commonly linked to skin irritation. Our formulas are anchored in 100% grass-fed tallow and nourishing plant butters and oils.
Is "fragrance-free" the same as "unscented"?
Not quite. "Unscented" products often contain masking ingredients that cover up the smell of other components. Fragrance-free means no fragrance of any kind is added — no synthetic perfume and no essential oils. Any subtle, natural aroma in our products comes only from the ingredients themselves, like tallow or plant butters. We keep our products fragrance-free because added fragrance is one of the most common triggers for sensitive and reactive skin.
Do your products contain essential oils or added fragrance?
No. We do not add synthetic fragrance or essential oils to our products. We believe skincare doesn't need to be scented to work well, and leaving fragrance out makes our products a safer everyday choice for sensitive skin, babies, and anyone prone to irritation.
What does "clean" or "non-toxic" skincare mean at The Bath Shoppe?
For us it means making products from simple, recognizable ingredients and leaving out the additives often associated with skin irritation. Every product is made in small batches from natural and organic ingredients, with no parabens, no sulfates, no phthalates, no synthetic dyes, no mineral oils, and no synthetic fragrance.
What ingredients do you leave out?
We leave out parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, mineral oils, and synthetic dyes. Instead, we build our products on nourishing bases like grass-fed tallow and plant-based butters and oils, so you can recognize what's on the label.
What is tallow, and why do you use it in skincare?
Tallow is rendered beef fat, and we use only 100% grass-fed, grass-finished tallow from a local regenerative farm. Its fatty-acid profile is remarkably close to the natural oils in human skin, which is why it absorbs well and feels nourishing rather than greasy. Tallow is also naturally rich in the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.
Is tallow good for dry, sensitive, or eczema-prone skin?
Many people with dry, sensitive, or eczema-prone skin find tallow gentle and deeply moisturizing, because it's simple, fragrance-free, and similar in structure to the skin's own oils. Everyone's skin is different, so we always recommend patch-testing a new product on a small area first.
Will tallow clog my pores?
Tallow is generally considered low on the comedogenic scale and tends to absorb cleanly, but skin varies from person to person. If you're acne-prone, we suggest patch-testing and starting with a small amount to see how your skin responds.
Are your products safe for babies and children?
We make several products specifically for delicate skin, using the same fragrance-free, toxin-free approach we use across the line. As with any product for infants, we recommend patch-testing first and checking with your pediatrician if you have any concerns.
Where are your products made?
Every product is handcrafted in small batches in Flower Mound, Texas. We make them ourselves, in-house — never mass-produced or outsourced.
Are your products handmade and small-batch?
Yes. Everything is handmade in small batches, which lets us control quality and keep products fresh. Smaller batches also mean we don't need heavy synthetic preservatives to keep products stable.
Do you test on animals?
No. We never test our products on animals.
How should I store my products, and how long do they last?
Because we leave out synthetic preservatives, store your products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and use clean, dry hands or a small spatula to keep them fresh. For best results, use within the time frame listed on the bottle after opening.
